Title: Administrative
Withdrawal for Non - Attendance Procedure
Semester: Fall 2008 Term
Policy: Students who never attend courses in which they are enrolled and do not personally drop/withdraw may be administratively withdrawn from each affected class.
Faculty Time Line: Wednesday, August 6 – Wednesday, August 13, 2008 for the Fall Intersession courses.
Tuesday, September 2 – Sunday, November 2, 2008 for the Fall full term courses.
Tuesday, September 2 – Sunday, November 2, 2008 for the Fall Irregular (short) courses.
Monday, August 25 – Wednesday, September 24, 2008 for the Summer Block I courses.
Thursday, August 28 - , Monday, October 13, 2008 for the Success Central 12 week courses.
Thursday, October 16 – Sunday, November 23, 2008 for the Summer Block II courses.
The ending dates for Full term, and Block I and Block II correspond to the normal “last day to drop a class or withdraw from all courses date with a W grade” for the respective part of term. Intersession and Irregular term dates are set to aid faculty in dealing with the shorter length courses. Faculty may not use the AW grade when assigning final grades for a class.
Purpose: Allow faculty to identify students who never attended their class and have them removed with a W grade.
Reduce the student financial obligation from owing 100% to owing 25% of the tuition and fees.
Eliminate the obligation of a faculty member from having to assign F grades to students who never showed in their class and who never officially withdrew.
Faculty Procedure: Log on to UCONNECT and go to the My Courses tab. In the Faculty Grade Assignment channel, click on the drop down box to display Midterm Grades, then click on GO.
Enter AW grade for the student(s) in the class(es) affected.
Click submit to save the recording of the administrative withdrawal.
Alternately, you can use the old method of going to the School Services tab, click in Broncho Central Services, then click on Faculty and Advisors
Then choose Midterm Grades option to pull up the class and find the student name(s) that need to be administratively withdrawn.
Enter AW grade for the student(s) in the class(es) affected.
Click submit to save the recording of the administrative withdrawal.
Registrar Action: The Academic Records’ Assistant will receive a report every Friday for any administrative withdrawals submitted that week and will process them through the Enrollment Services office. Student(s) will be officially withdrawn at the end of the week and the change should be reflected on the faculty roll sheet the next week. The W grade will be permanently assigned to the student just as W grades are assigned to those students who officially withdraw themselves.
